The Disciplined Agile® Coach (DAC) course is designed to equip learners with advanced skills to support and lead agile transformations within their organizations. The course focuses on pragmatic techniques for coaching teams, individuals, and groups of teams, ensuring that the participants can effectively foster a Disciplined Agile mindset and guide their organizations through complex improvement initiatives.

During the pre-workshop phase, learners engage with asynchronous content that lays the groundwork for effective DA coaching, emphasizing the end goals of coaching and strategies for supporting change across various organizational levels. The in-class workshop phase then builds on this foundation with interactive lessons on the DA mindset, working with governance structures, identifying challenges, and leveraging the improvement backlog. Participants will learn how to create a coaching playbook, implement guided continuous improvement (GCI), and address impediments and root causes of issues.

The course helps learners to support diversity in the workplace, guide teams through change, and enhance decision-making processes. It also addresses the nuances of working with external teams and contributes to building the organizational capacity needed for a sustainable agile environment. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a robust set of tools and strategies to become effective Disciplined Agile Coaches.

Course Prerequisites

The Disciplined Agile® Coach (DAC) course is designed for individuals who are looking to take their agile coaching skills to the next level by focusing on the Disciplined Agile toolkit. To ensure that you have the best learning experience and are able to successfully undertake training in the DAC course, the following minimum prerequisites are recommended:


  • A good understanding of agile and lean principles, and at least two years of experience applying them in practice.
  • Completion of at least one introductory Disciplined Agile course, such as Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) or Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM), or equivalent training or experience.
  • Experience in coaching teams in agile practices and facilitating continuous improvement within an organizational context.
  • Familiarity with common agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe®) and an openness to learning about and integrating a variety of agile approaches.
  • Basic knowledge of change management processes and experience supporting teams through transformational changes.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organization, from team members to executives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively navigate complex conversations and guide teams and individuals.
